Humble Beginnings

Established in 1988, O’Malley Homes is a family run business building a vast variety of different homes. John O’Malley, a plumber by trade, paved the way for the company, and it is now owned and operated by his sons Jonathan and Derek. The O’Malley’s have a proven reputation for producing quality homes throughout Southern Ontario.

In the late 1980’s John O’Malley began building homes in the smaller towns of New Hamburg and Listowel. Then, in the early 1990’s, he was the first builder to be invited by the developer of Kitchener’s Deer Ridge subdivision to start construction in this upscale area overlooking the Grand River. O’Malley Homes has ongoing projects in Listowel, Kincardine, Waterloo Region and more.

Living in the growing rural community of Listowel, there are many location options to build new homes and with each of those comes many options for your home builder. We were extremely fortunate that the location we wanted for our “forever home” was accompanied by a builder, O’Malley Homes, who exceeded our expectations throughout the process. O’Malley Homes offered a combination of quality, affordability and had an exceptional reputation. We were not familiar with the builder going into the project and were certainly not disappointed as they offered professional service with the flexibility to meet our needs. After almost 50 Years in our previous home, we took a huge leap of faith and decided on O'Malley Homes of Waterloo to build our next "forever" home. Jon O'Malley was exceedingly patient, addressing all our concerns, making changes on the fly, never making us feel that it was a big issue. Even after completion, he has maintained his interest to ensure that we are happy with the end result. His staff and professional crew are to commended. We made the right choice.

My wife and I bought a property in 2018 and used O'Malley Homes to build it. It was our very first custom home so the thought of fully designing a house from top to bottom seemed very exciting and a bit daunting to say the least. We had an idea of a style we wanted and the O'Malleys made it come to life. They made the process very enjoyable and were very helpful when it came to the little intricacies of home building. The craftsmanship of their trades were second to none. Having used a "larger builder" for our last two homes, there was no comparison to how well and detailed this home was constructed compared to our last two. We enjoyed being involved in the process and were thankful for all of the help and suggestions that were provided throughout the entire process. The entire O'Malley Homes team was great and I would like to thank them for making our dream home a reality.

Just wanted to say how much we appreciated O’Malley Homes building our retirement home. We absolutely LOVE our ensuite shower. It is everything we expected and more. It’s so functional, spacious and yet elegant. As we continue to live in the space, it confirms in our minds the design and layout is just right for us.
